Looking for some triathlon-specific entertainment to keep you motivated during these times of Lockdown? Here is something better than binge-watching Money Heist :-)! They're the perfect inspirational pick-me-up!
1. Chasing the Lion
While it’s only 17 minutes long, this short film documents Lionel Sanders’ ascent from drug abuse and mental illness to one of the best up-and-coming long-distance triathletes in the world.
2. The Last Mile
It is a full-length documentary about four athletes and their journey through the 2017 ITU Long Distance World Championship in Penticton. Two of the athletes featured are Penticton heroes Jeff Symonds and Jen Annett.
3. The Man with the Halo
This short documentary from Emmy-award-winning director Andrew Hinton recounts Tim Don’s amazing comeback after a horrific bike crash just days before the 2017 Ironman World Championship. (goosebumps and tears for sure...)
And these last 2 videos...not HD, grimy, but THE most iconic triathlon videos of all-time!
4. The IronWar: 1989
This is one of the classic images in IRONMAN history, with two of the best triathletes of their time locked side-by-side for almost the entire World Championship course. Not only was the previous record smashed by both Mark Allen and Dave Scott, but the race has gone down in infamy and continues to be the standard for grit, competition, and determination.
5. The Women's Finish: IronMan 1982 World Championship
If the Iron War is the most famous moment in IRONMAN history, this video is a close second. Julie Moss's dramatic finish truly embodies the IRONMAN spirit. This was the first time that an “Ironman race” was being telecast live, and it was Moss’ emotional finish that brought the race to the forefront.
